i dont know what to say… it may even offend you but i have no such intentions…
whatever u have said it seems like as if u r abusing me, my parents, my brothers and sisters and frnds and their parents and other relatives and majority of our population… i dont know whats your idea of how to get married… but to me and many of my frnds its the PARENTS which decide … this is what is beleived and practised by majority ppl … by those who has received best of education at iitd and iim-a… by those who r in service of society by choice… whatever u have said does happens in reality but the perception u r having of such scenario is not truth… the labels u have assigned them is totally unjustified…
i dont know if u r joking or u do really beleive in what u have said… in either case the way u approached it is …
do u know what it means to be a prostitute or a pimp?… when parents r deciding abt their child’s marriage is this is what is on their mind that can categorise them and their child as what u described them?… for sure u r not aware of underlying feelings in such scenario… if ppl r pros and pimp in this scenario then they r like that in evry other… and even those who believe in LOVE marriages… becoz the thrust is same in both cases…
i wont speak of merits and demrits of love and arranged marriage… it is one owns choice but to abuse those who dont fall in one’s own category without knowing in and out of them is wrong…

I m also perplexed by the idea that hw a person can spend his/her entire life with a stranger whom he/she doesn’t know and whn the case is of dowry,hw do ppl still adjust?
I think marriage is less a love/devine concept rather its mere Compromise.

Thought provoking poem. Reminds you of Rani Mukherjee’s dialogues in the movie “Hum Tum” where she says that Indians are obsessed with getting thier daughters married off. Wheher it is dowry or corruption, one has to strike at the root of the peoblem to get rid of it permanantly. Writing poetry and making movies like “Rang De Basanti” highlight the problem.

That was such a strong poem with equally strong theme. But I feel, the era of dowry has gone, I didnt hear in my far far circles if anybody has demaned any dowry(except for a few andra friends) and same with girls, they do not sit in front of you as commodity , they interact with you, go for a drive or stroll and talk for hours with you before making a decision. I guess the times are changing or otherwise I am living in a different world.

Poem was indeed good.
