Kiran Bedi and Women Empowerment!

Email this link

CNN-IBN says:
“Women empowerment - the agenda endorsed and publicised as the key reason behind Pratibha Patil’s appointment as India’s first woman president - lost all merit when it came to giving India’s first woman IPS officer the post of the police commissioner.”…

“a demure, non-threatening figurehead Pratibha Patil - who keeps her head covered with her sari pallu - makes an ideal President for UPA, while the short-haired, no-nonsense cop Kiran Bedi - who matches her male counterparts talent-for-talent - is seen a misfit for another top position.”

Isn’t it crystal clear that Kiran Bedi, a woman, can’t empower another woman, Sonia Gandhi and the “First Family” of India, “which” sacrificed so much for India?

I dont think the pallu over the head or the short hair really mean anything. And a women mustn’t be judged on the basis of matching her male counterparts, for male counterparts cud be worst.

I think an individual must be seen as an individual irrespective of their gender or looks or anything else and shd be judged purely on their motivation and talent to excel in their field.

Hi,Alka..we all know the answer as to why rubber stamps, err,….get elected to high posts.:)Makes me wonder,sometimes-is the UAE form of government the right solution, instead of an insipid democracy that ours seems so many times? Here, there’s a ruling family,Rulers for each Emirate, and,a President at the Capital. And,they ensure the country runs and runs well.

Prudent Indian, I agree with you. Let’s discuss what we can do.

Maverick, that’s the point. Hard work is not recognized.

Prancer, I hope what you are thinking will come true.

AmitL, sometimes I too think on those lines. I still find people praising British Raj, though bitterly.

    Praney, kya baat kahi hai.

Rohit, welcome. I will write to you offline.

Ganga, welcome back. Where were you these days? I missed you too.

Yeah this is a Circus with clown all around. Any one with real worth is uninvited. I agree with every bit written here. I have stopped even registering these events now.

Don’t we have another empowered woman in Maywati. By God or should I say By Baba Saheb, what a power she has.
