M/S AluzZa Water Efficient Solutions (AWES) is a consulting and service providing firm providing consultancy in the field of water conservation activities. The firm was formed in the year 2001 to provide consultancy for Rain Water Harvesting in Mumbai and has grown over the years to provide consultancy and also carry out the turnkey projects all over Maharashtra.
The demand for water is ever increasing.
As per the data from Corporation as of 2003, the supply of water was 2700 MLD (Million Liters per Day) while the demand was 4100 MLD which shows a clear shortfall of 1400 MLD.
Due to the expansion and development the demand will further increase and corporation will not be able to suffice the same.
As a result, this concept is followed by all the new constructions as this is a need of future.

The government can do more by simply allowing it. Currently in most states there are significant restrictions on rainwater and greywater harvesting which are mostly due to outdated laws based around agriculture. (many times in areas where there isn't any agriculture anymore!) If you would like to get involved in a discussion about rainwater harvesting practices please join our rainwater harvesting

Amit, you are perfectly right about our effort. In Delhi, some resident welfare associations have started rainwater harvesting without bothering the government. Expecting something from the politicians shows a kind of naivety.

Alka, this was something I think about, each time Mumbai or any of our States have floods-namely,why can't they channelize this water, instead of letting it all flow off, and, then, after a few months, start crying for draught relief? But,I think it's in the interests of our politicians to let things remain in the state they are,so that a topic for the vote banks doesn't'dry up',if I may make that pun.

And,I did do a bit of reading on rainwater harvesting, and,as this article also says,it's pretty simple.Perhaps we,as citizens, need to bring this topic to the authorities' notice,or,maybe,do something ourselves...*ponders*
